Know The Leaders. Learn, Grow and Make a Difference.
Can you relate to the zeal in these people? We are sure you can.
The YEDG is glad to inaugurate it's interview series on an enthusiastic note with the curiously unique person of Mr. Pushpendra Mehta.
An alumnus of the prestigious Northwestern University, U.S.A., Mr. Pushpendra Mehta authored a non-fiction book in 2006, titled ‘The Game of Life & Relationships: Few Are Prepared', which was reviewed as the best non-fiction work for the month of May-2006 by Suzie Housley. His soon to be published work, a book titled ‘Tomorrow's Young Achievers' deals with Entrepreneurship, risks and a range of related issues. No wonder the YEDG is keen on spreading the word and finding out more about him. Mr. Mehta has gained extensive experience as a writer, author, journalist, career strategist and consultant and has recently added another feather in his cap, by initiating his new age entrepreneurial venture, VCherish.com, an online media and electronic publishing website. In the present interview, we will focus on his soon to be published work, his entrepreneurial venture and his views about entrepreneurship in India and related aspects.
1. Mr. Mehta, the field of inspirational and motivational literature is not new to you. What do you intend to convey through your new work, ‘Tomorrow's Young Achievers'? Who is your target audience?
Through the soon-to-be published book "Tomorrow's Young Achievers" I wish to share with Young Minds (age 15-35), lessons acquired through my recent academic sojourn at Northwestern University (USA) and subsequent work experience, encompassing anecdotes, observations, and learnings drawn from specific faculty members (past and present) at Northwestern University (Medill School and Kellogg School of Management), personal experiences and conversations with successful classmates and ex-colleagues that culminates into 31 ‘career' defining insights (job, entrepreneurship, mainstream and non-mainstream professions) for Young Minds in an attempt to prepare them for a diametrically different tomorrow.
The target audience is young minds between the age of 15-35, encompassing high school students, college and university goers, advanced degree students (Masters and PhD), young professionals in the early stage of their careers, and those planning a career transition. For those interested in procuring an autographed copy of the book, they can write to me directly at: pushpendramehta@gmail.com or visit www.vcherish.com
2. Tell us about VCherish.
VCherish.com is an "international" online media company for young minds (age 15-45) in India and overseas that provides them a paid freelance opportunity to publish articles, web videos and e-books. VCherish.com has published a variety of articles, pictures and videos encompassing big city and small town India, interesting facets of London, Italy and South Korea, and contributions received from New Zealand, Philippines and Silicon Valley, US.
3. Does VCheirsh intend to target the Indian regional languages' literary pool as well?
Articles published on VCherish.com can be automatically semi-translated into Hindi by clicking the Indian National Flag on top of each page on VCherish.com. Some of our videos have been recorded in Hindi with English sub-titles, however, most of the contributions are published in English. In the next stage we hope to acquire the capability and expand to accept "domestic regional languages and major international languages" literary submissions too.
4. Do you see VCherish as offering a full time/substantial and sustainable earning opportunity to its target audience and clients?
Because we publish the picture and the profile of each paid freelance contributor, it does enhance their "profile and recognition" index (within the domestic and international milieu) that can possibly be leveraged by them in various aspects of life - personal and professional. Currently we offer all our contributors a small fee for their contributions (articles and videos) and hope that as we grow we will make the compensation structure more attractive so that as we grow they prosper too. Earning in the new age is measured by the integration of the 'visibility' index and the 'earning' index. We hope we can be a good mix of both for our Target audience and allied stakeholders.
5. Is there any other literary work that we might expect from you in the near future after ‘Young Achievers'?
My first book "Win the Battles of Life & Relationships" too has discerning insights for young minds personal and professional growth. Yes, I have begun working on my third book that is a fiction story encompassing the unconventional journey of a man across India, US, Peru and other places, which would hopefully be picturized into a movie as well.
6. How would you rate the young Indian entrepreneurial community? What would be your message to them?
As a speaker, career strategist and consultant (www.vcherishconsultancy.com), I am often invited to interact or speak with entrepreneurs, and each time I am pleasantly surprised to hear of unique ideas, and observe amazing energy and talent prevalent within our young entrepreneurial community. I think they are among the smartest in the world. My message to them: "History will remember you only if you are bold, chase big dreams, pursue your passion, make 'the' difference and are 'pro-unconventional' risks."
All those with a literary itch in your heads, watch out for VCherish, which can make you simply click your way to glory. We highly recommend Mr. Mehta's previous and future works for all our fellow members. We hope this interactive post proves to be informative and useful for all.
It is our constant endeavor at the YEDG to bring the best to our members in all possible ways.
Feedbacks, comments and queries are welcome and awaited. Kindly feel free to use the YEDG forums to communicate with the interviewee.
